Psalm 1:1-3 states, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Anyone who has a yard understands the need for it to have sufficient water on a regular basis; otherwise that green will turn brown. This has certainly not been a problem for much of Alaska this summer of 2026. If anything, it has been exactly the opposite – no chance of brown this year.

Some folks may have an electrical automated water system where in the course of a normal summer it is needful for that system to be activated in order to keep the yard properly watered. If the wire becomes broken or detached from the control panel to the timer mechanism, the system will fail and the grass will not be watered. The problem is not that the system will not work, not that there is insufficient water. The problem is the power supply was not connected, thereby keeping the system from operating properly.

Many Christians, at times, lose their power due to sin, and their spiritual success, like that wire, becomes disconnected from the only source – God and His Word – that can enable them to be victorious in life. The happy Christian, the successful Christian is one who avoids wrong influences in their life and stays “connected” with God.

A key question to ask oneself is whether or not you have a relationship with God according to the Scriptures to begin with. Knowledge of God does not mean you have a real relationship with Him. You can, by simply acknowledging your need for Jesus Christ to save you due to the fact that you are a sinner. As Romans 3:23 states, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Think about it.
