With the seasons changing quickly, now is the time to sign up for this year’s Winter Reading Challenge at the Delta Community Library. This year’s theme is “Read Your Way Across the USA!” to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary. Participants will read books or complete activities linked either to the USA or to individual states. There are prizes to win along the way, chances to level up winnings by answering trivia questions, and a grand prize raffle when the challenge ends in spring.
This multi-month event was created last year to encourage more adults to enjoy reading and built on the ever-popular youth summer reading challenges. It proved such a success that in addition to adults, two new age categories have now been added – one for K-4th grade, and one for 5th-12th grade.
“Come into the library to sign up for the challenge,” says Library Director Tiki Levinson. “We have some great prizes again this year, and it’s an opportunity for people to read about our states and country.”
“Whether you are a lifelong reader, a parent looking to read with your child, or just hoping to get back into the habit of reading, this season’s challenge is sure to keep you motivated through the colder months,” she added.
The challenge kicked off on Oct. 1 and runs until March 31, 2027. Details and sign-up are available at the library. Also offered at the library is our knitting club night, book club, an ever-changing array of scavenger hunts and games for kids, pop up events, and Baby Laptime and Storytime. Call the library at 907-895-4102 with any questions.
